WHC Board of Directors  

Women’s Health Clinic (WHC) is currently seeking candidates  
from community to join our dedicated Board of Directors. 

We are currently seeking individuals with strong governance leadership who align with our vision, mission and values to join our dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. WHC promotes personal agency: we believe that all people should be empowered to take care of their mental, emotional, sexual, physical and spiritual health and wellbeing.  

Committed to promoting equity, access and participation from diverse groups that 
are representative of the community we serve, we welcome and encourage applications from all women*, Indigenous People, people of colour, people living with disabilities, and members of the 2STLGBQIA+ community.   

Advancing the goals of reconciliation, decolonization, anti-oppression and anti-racism; equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging in health care is the North Star of WHC’s work. 

Experience in the following areas would be a significant asset:  
FINANCE, ACCOUNTING; FUNDRAISING & FUND DEVELOPMENT;  
HUMAN RESOURCES and LEGAL EXPERTISE.   

Eligibility:   

Any Manitoba resident who aligns with th Vision, Mission and Values of Women’s Health Clinic may be nominated to the Board.    

Major Responsibilities Include:  

  • Creating and reviewing the Vision, Mission and Values and Strategic Plan for Women’s Health Clinic. 
  • Selection, support and evaluation of the Executive Director. 
  • Providing financial oversight by ensuring financial controls are in place to  
    protect the assets of WHC - approving and monitoring budgets and financial statements. 
  • Setting policy direction for Women’s Health Clinic.  
  • Participating in fundraising. 

Commitment:  

  • Dedicate 3-6 hours a month to participate in Board level meetings. 
  • Ability to attend in person and virtual meetings. 
  • Commit to a 2-year term on the Board. 
  • Attend regular and special Board meetings as required. 
  • Serve on at least one Board committee.

Highlights:  

  • WHC is governed by a community Board of Directors consisting of up to fifteen (15) members. 
  • Board meetings are typically held the first Tuesday of each month. 
  • Committee meetings are also typically held monthly. 
  • WHC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in June.

Candidate Selection Process:    

The Board Governance and Nomination Committee (GNC) receives and reviews applications submitted, interviews are scheduled with eligible candidates (second interviews may be requested). Ahead of the AGM, GNC members recommend a proposed slate of nominations to the Board.   

An approved slate of candidates is nominated by the Board at the AGM – all voting members of WHC cast an aye or nay election vote.  

Nominations pass with a 51% aye vote.
