Trained volunteer counsellors provide pro-choice, feminist-based, non-judgmental, compassionate support, information and referrals to clients on birth control and pregnancy options. They can also discuss issues about sexuality and relationships, sexually transmitted infection/HIV prevention, and safer sex practices.
BCPCP volunteer counsellor training is held in person twice a year in Spring and Fall. Training is approximately 60 hours held over 12 weeks. This program prepares volunteers to work from a client-centered, feminist counselling model that empowers clients to make informed decisions.
For more information on the Birth Control & Pregnancy Counselling Program, please contact Kenzie at kgerrand@womenshealthclinic.org to receive an information package. The package outlines what being a volunteer counsellor involves, including the time commitment.
Please note that volunteers complete their shifts from the main clinic at 419 Graham Ave in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
