Full Moon Ceremony

4:00 PM

The Full Moon Partners with help from Bear Clan, are pleased to present Ojijaako Maamooniding (All Spirits Gathering) as the May Full Moon Ceremony on May 25, 2024 at Oodena Celebration Circle at The Forks, beginning at 4PM.

This month’s event includes a Pipe Ceremony, Water Ceremony, and speeches to welcome our three new partners, Inaadiziwin, Native Clan Organization, and Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities (MLPD).

“In working with MLPD, we will be guided on how best to ensure every Full Moon Ceremony from now on is accessible to those with mobility issues, visual impairments, or who are hard of hearing.” says Louise McKay, Women’s Health Clinic Elder.

Come and hear Melanie from Toronto’s story – an Indigenous woman who was told she would never be able to participate in Ceremony because she is visually impaired.

Thanks to a generous grant from Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society, and support from MLPD in collaboration with the Full Moon Partners, we are able to meet accessibility standards for a wide range of different abilities and gifts for Saturday’s events.

The Full Moon Ceremony is a collaboration between Sunshine House, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc MMIWG Liaison Unit (MKO), The Link, Manitoba Moon Voices (MMVI), Women’s Health Clinic (WHC), Inaadiziwin, Native Clan Organization, Inc. (NCO), Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities and Medicine Bear, Ka Ni Kanichihk. This Ceremony is open to the community at large; all genders and cultures are invited to join together for teachings about feminine energy’s relationship with Grandmother Moon. Anyone who identifies with feminine energy is invited to participate in the Ceremony. Those who identify with masculine energy are invited to attend, but will observe. If you can, we ask relatives to bring your own chair, rattles and/or drums, as well as a water container to fill and take home after the Ceremony (if you wish).
