What is Fueling Freedom?
Fueling Freedom is a free, community-based program for youth (age 13-17) who could use support exploring a peaceful relationship with food, their body, and themselves. We also support all parents, families, and caregivers—no matter the age of the children you care for.
Our programs are open to anyone, of any gender, living anywhere in Manitoba.
Fueling Freedom is also for you: the professionals who serve and support them.

About Us
Fueling Freedom offers a variety of programs and services that can help youth of all genders develop, repair, and maintain their relationship with food and body image. This includes programming, training, consultation, and support for youth-serving professionals.
We take a broad, holistic, non-medical approach to disordered eating prevention, making it appropriate for all youth. Participants do not need an official diagnosis, a medical referral, or an MB health card number to access our program.
Fueling Freedom is a part of the Provincial Eating Disorder Prevention and Recovery Program at Women’s Health Clinic. Our multidisciplinary team includes counsellors, registered dietitians, and health educators along with other medical advisors and community helpers.
What is the difference between eating disorders and disordered eating?
You’ll notice that we use the term ‘disordered eating’ when talking about Fueling Freedom.
Disordered eating describes a variety of behaviours that we might engage in when our relationship with food and our body could use some support. Disordered eating can include things that might seem ‘normal’ for those of us living under diet culture like dieting, skipping meals, excluding certain foods or entire food groups, eating that feels out of control, compulsive exercise, and feelings of guilt or shame about body and/or food.
