J.J. Mao
J.J. Mao is a medical student at the University of Manitoba, holding a BScH in Psychology, Certificate in Sexual and Gender Diversity, and M.Ed. J.J. co-founded the Gender Affirming Assistance Project (GAAP) which is a grassroots and community-based group that seeks to support Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse community members in the Kingston area. Throughout their work in GAAP and their academic research, they have consistently seen inequities within health care, and they hope to leverage their knowledge and positions to close some gaps using education and skill-sharing as tools of empowerment.
