If you are having trouble dealing with some things in your life or struggling with intense emotions, counselling can help.
If you are wondering about counselling, consider these questions:
Do you feel:
If you answered yes to any of these, talking to a counsellor might help.
A counsellor has special training to help people figure out their problems and sort through intense feelings. You can talk to your counsellor about anything. She will listen without judging you and ask questions to help you figure things out. You can talk about whatever you want; no problem is too big or too small to talk about.
Counselling is not about someone telling you what to do. Your WHC counsellor will work with you to understand the things that matter most to you. She will pay special attention to what YOU want – your own hopes and ideas for moving forward in your life.
Counselling at WHC is private. Your parents do not need to know you are in counselling unless you want to tell them. Your counsellor will explain more about privacy and answer any questions you might have.
If you think that you need urgent help (if you feel completely stuck, overwhelmed or unable to cope, or if you are in an unsafe situation) if you need help, the following services are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
You might feel unsure about calling. Perhaps you’re feeling scared to talk about what is happening or wondering if anyone can really help. That’s ok. Please know that help is available, no matter what the problem is.
